Seek the Lord with the Hope of Finding Him

December 6th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Acts 17: 27  The Apostle Paul in his sermon on Mars Hill in Athens proclaims the desire of God that all men would seek the Lord…. and find Him!

God is not hiding.  Men are simply lost.  We have lost our way.  Other things lost:  senses, fellowship, vision, purpose, hope, innocence, knowlege, paradise, relationship, and our place.

As we struggle in darkness, our feet stumble.  Our hearts race in fear.  Hopes are dashed.

Jesus had compassion on people and described them as sheep wandering without a shepherd.

Jesus also expressed His mission as ” coming to seek and to save the lost”.

When God is looking for you and you are looking for Him, get ready for a miracle.  The miracle of being found, of being saved.  God calls and we answer.  We call and God answers.  Wow, what a relationship.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news to wanderers and lost seekers.  The gospel is an invitation to return to the place He made for us.  To enter the house and sanctuary where He dwells.  The gospel compels us to come home.  To return as a prodigal to a compassionate waiting Father.  The gospel welcomes us to our rightful place in the family.  He invites us to restoration and healing.  He fits us together in a way that pleases Him and in a way that is right.  We fit!

I have a growing desire to participate in Spirit-led ways to seek out wanderers.  To carry the divine invitation to worn out and spiritually exhausted life travelers.   I want God to use me in the ministry of reconciliation.

May God give me new eyes to see people as He does.  May God give me a heart like His and compassion that is real. May God send me to the unrepentant, the rebel, the deceived, the lost and the dying.

To be a part of the gospel ministry is to see healing poured out, to see lives rescued, to pull souls from the pit.

Jesus name means salvation.  I want to sing that Name, to whisper that Name, to bear that Name, to proclaim that Name, to pray in that Name.  I love the Name of Jesus.   I saw the Light,  I want others to see it too.

God is a God of blessing

December 2nd, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

The very nature and essence of God is to bless.  He loves to bless us from His unlimited abundance.  Our hearts should always be in a receptive mode when it comes to our relationship with the Lord.

The Word of God encourages us to abide, to dwell, to live in Christ and His word.  This abiding relationship is designed to place us in the center of maximum blessing.  He wants you to be close to Him so He can give you more.  We live far below our call and potential.  He desires to lift us up.

Prayer makes room for us in the blessing place.  There is that place where we  find what is beyond imagination.  It is a place of communion, of close contact and communication.  Seek the Lord, He wants to be found.  When you find Him, you find His blessing.

The Last Month of 08

December 1st, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Well, December is here.  The last month of 2008 is marching on.  Time is moving faster for me these days.

I heard that the younger you are the slower time seems to move and as you get older time accelerates.

I turned 55 this year. Hang on, here we go racing into the unknown future as well.  We are also conscious of a momentum into prophetic potential and promises.  With an eternal vision powered by faith we see light and glory ahead.  Jesus is illuminating our way with His word and presence.  What a Saviour!

Lately, the Lord has been impressing me to preach on single word truths.  The series thus far has included:

Discipline, Truth, Faith, Hunger, and Ask.  It seems like we barely penetrate the surface of the power of these words, even with 40 to 50 minutes of preaching…  yes,  I know services are longer,  but I time the actual time spent on the Word itself.

I think the Holy Spirit is stirring me with a few more words, like  Edify, Praise, and Give.  Let’s see what comes next.

Verla and I love you all,

We had a great thanksgiving and we are looking forward to this whole month of December in beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado.

Doing things you’ve never done

October 11th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

Recently,  a good brother in the Lord and I actually did something that we had talked about for a while.

We rode bicycles through the scenic Glenwood Canyon.  Both of us had commented how neat it would be to see the amazing Glenwood Canyon and the powerful Colorado River by taking the bike trail that runs for about 11 miles along I-70  through the canyon.  Talk is one thing.  Doing is another.

Well, we took our wives, Letha and Verla, along with our grandson, Jayden, and made a day of it.

Art rented a Bike rack for his vehicle and we loaded up and took off.  The ladies dropped  us off at the Bear Ranch rest area near the east entrance of the canyon.  They agreed to meet us near the Hot Springs pool later.

It was fantastic.  Never mind that Art and I are north of 50 and don’t do this everyday.

I highly recommend doing instead of talking.  What a great day.  After the bike ride, we rode the Gondola up the mountain and rode the alpine slide.  We enjoyed good fellowship and lunch together then returned home.   I am posting a picture at the start of the ride.  Art has a new helmet and I am wearing a borrowed

one, just barely fitting, but providing excellent protection.  Gotta protect those brains!

What an unforgettable way to see the dramatic scenery of the Canyon up close!

What’s next?

Pastor Somnuk and Pastor Crowley

We enjoyed a great missions fellowship Sunday night with soups, crackers, bread, fruit, cobbler, etc.

Our guest speaker, Pastor Somnuk, is the Church of God Overseer for Thailand, Cambodia , and several other Southeast Asian countries.

Pastor Somnuk presented the need for support for the House of Hope and other orphanages that they oversee in Thailand.  Our hearts were moved by the power of changing young lives with love, care, and the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ.

Many testimonies to the wonderful power of God were heard after 2 Weeks of meetings with Clifton and Jubilee Family Church and Healing Ministries International with Deon Hockey.

The deaf received hearing, the lame walked, and some were filled with the Holy Spirit.

We are grateful to the Lord that som many blessings came from these meetings.

It was a joy to partner with Pastor Jason McManus and Clifton Assembly to host the Revival.

Deon and Charmaine Hockey

The impact of two weeks of annointed teaching of God’s Word, prayer for many needs, healing for dozens,

personal commitments to Jesus, water baptism, and the fellowship and partnership of two congregations is going to be felt in our lives for some time to come.

Only in heaven will we know the full story.  At that time we will praise and adore our Savior with limitless and boundless ferver.

The Hockeys celebrated their 18th year of being born again this week at Jubilee Family Church.

On Wednesday night, Deon related one of the most powerful testimonies of faith, conversion, baptism in the Spirit, calling and launch into miracle ministry that I have ever heard.  I praise the Lord for the honor to partner in the Gospel with these choice servants of God.

I Need You To Survive

I Need You to Survive

The above link is to a song by Hezekiah Walker that expresses our connection in the family of God.

We played this at the close of last Sunday’s service.  It was moving to see our people begin to get out of the seat and reach out in love to other worshipers.  You should have been there..  :)

You may listen to the song after a free registration.

blessings,

Jubilee Family Church will be joining with Clifton Assembly of God for two weeks of special services with Evangelist Deon Hockey.  Sunday Sept. 14th begins at the Clifton A/G. Sunday, Sept. 21, the meetings will be hosted by JFC.  Rev. Deon Hockey comes to us from South Africa and will have a strong healing and prophetic emphasis.  This is one of the most important meetings we will have in this calendar year. Pray about your involvement with this vital endeavor for our churches.  Other Congregations in the valley have been invited to participate with us as well. Pray, pray, pray.
